The 16th edition of the traditional Manipuri festival Puthiba Lai-Haraoba will begin on January 19 and continue till January 23 at Prithiba in Abhaynagar. The inaugural ceremony will take place at 5:30 PM at the Puthiba Deity Temple.The festival is being jointly organized by the Puthiba Lai-Haraoba Committee and the Puthiba Welfare and Cultural Society, with support from the State Department of Information and Culture. The event aims to preserve and promote the cultural heritage and age-old traditions of the Manipuri community.The five-day festival will feature performances by renowned Amaiba and Amaibi Pena Khongba artists. Traditional cultural programs including Thang-ta martial arts demonstrations, Pena dance, folk songs, and other indigenous art forms will be presented by artists from different parts of the state.A rural fair will also be organized during the festival, showcasing local handicrafts, traditional food items, and cultural exhibits. Evening cultural programs have been scheduled on all days of the event.Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb will attend the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Leishemba Sanajaoba, Maharaja of Manipur and Member of Parliament, will be present as a Special Guest. Several state ministers, MLAs, mayors, social workers, and senior district officials are expected to attend the program.The closing ceremony will be held on January 23 at 5:30 PM, to be presided over by Member of Parliament Rajiv Bhattacharya, along with senior officials from the state government and cultural organizations.People and artists from Tripura, Assam, and Manipur are expected to participate in the festival. The organizers have invited citizens to take part in the celebrations and witness the rich cultural traditions of the Manipuri community.
