The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially unveiled the schedule for the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup, set to take place in India and Sri Lanka from 30 September to 2 November. The tournament will kick off with a match between host nation India and Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on 30 September.
Defending champions Australia will begin their title defense against New Zealand in Indore on 1 October. The matches will be spread across five cities – Bengaluru, Vizag, Indore, Guwahati, and Colombo. One of the semi-finals will be played in Bengaluru, while the other will be held in either Colombo or Guwahati.
The format of the tournament will involve a single round-robin stage where each of the eight participating teams will play against each other once. The top four teams will then progress to the semi-finals. Prior to the start of the tournament, teams will also play two warm-up matches starting from 24 September.
India’s warm-up fixtures include matches against England and South Africa in Bengaluru and Guwahati, respectively. This year marks the 13th edition of the Women’s Cricket World Cup, which was first held in 1973. Australia secured their place in the tournament after a remarkable performance in the ICC Women’s Championship.
Other teams like England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka qualified through the Women’s Championship, while hosts India automatically qualified. The final two spots were determined through the Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, with Pakistan and Bangladesh earning their places.
The final match of the tournament is scheduled for 2 November, with the venue yet to be decided between Bengaluru and Colombo.
