Bangladesh’s interim government Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening friendly relations with China, calling it essential for the country’s strategic and economic interests. Wrapping up his four-day official visit to China on Saturday, March 29, 2025, Mr. Yunus expressed optimism that ties between Dhaka and Beijing are poised to enter a new phase of deeper cooperation.
Speaking to the media after his visit, Mr. Yunus stated, “Our relationship has been very strong over the years. Our business is very strong, and we benefit significantly from our collaboration with China.” He underscored that Bangladesh has always valued its partnership with China, particularly in the areas of trade, infrastructure development, energy, and regional stability.
During his visit, Mr. Yunus held high-level talks with Chinese officials, explored investment opportunities, and reviewed ongoing bilateral projects, including those under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The visit also included discussions on expanding cooperation in sectors such as technology, education, and climate resilience.
The Chief Adviser reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to maintaining a balanced and friendly foreign policy, noting that viewing China as a “good friend” is not just beneficial but necessary in a rapidly evolving global geopolitical landscape.
