A vehicle belonging to the Bishalgarh police station was involved in an accident in the Ghaniyamara Panchayat Tila area. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, but fortunately, the driver and other police personnel escaped with minor injuries.
According to reports, the police jeep, bearing the registration number TR01D0854, was transporting a group of police officers and TSR (Tripura State Rifles) jawans for an investigation in the Ghaniyamara area. During the return journey, the vehicle reportedly experienced brake failure, leading to the accident. While the driver sustained minor injuries, the TSR jawans and other police personnel were not in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Local residents who heard the loud crash rushed to the scene and assisted in recovering the overturned police vehicle.
The report suggests that a more serious incident was narrowly avoided. Had the accident occurred on the Boxanagar-Bishalgarh highway, it could have resulted in fatalities. The incident has brought to light concerns regarding the condition of vehicles used by the Bishalgarh police station.
Sources within the Bishalgarh police station, including some drivers, allege that many of the vehicles are old and lack proper maintenance. Drivers express fear of potential accidents due to the poor condition of these vehicles.
The accident has raised questions about the maintenance and safety of police vehicles in the area. It remains to be seen what action the Sepahijala District Police Superintendent will take in response to these concerns.
