Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, recently led an international media delegation to the Line of Control (LoC) to dispute India’s claims of the existence of terrorist camps in the region. The visit, organized by Pakistan’s I&B Ministry, aimed to showcase the area and its local population to the media in an attempt to debunk India’s accusations.
During the visit, Minister Tarar boldly stated that the locations identified by India as terrorist camps were actually civilian areas. He asserted that Pakistan had presented evidence to both national and international media to support their claim that they are a responsible state committed to regional and global peace.
“We have proven through our actions that we are advocates of peace,” Minister Tarar affirmed, adding that Pakistan would defend its sovereignty at all costs.
The visit to the LoC comes amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people. The attack was attributed to the Pakistan-based militant group The Resistance Front, although India has vowed to pursue the perpetrators.
In response to the heightened tensions, the United Nations Security Council is set to hold a closed-door discussion on the India-Pakistan situation, providing an opportunity for India to present its case against Pakistan. Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, is scheduled to deliver a statement following the meeting on Monday, May 5, 2025.
As the region remains on edge, with the threat of escalation looming, both India and Pakistan continue to exchange accusations and threats, raising concerns about the potential impact on regional and global peace and security.
