India has launched a military operation named ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The operation targeted nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) where terrorist groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba were known to operate.
According to official sources, key locations such as Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Kotli were among the targets hit in the operation. The strikes were specifically aimed at crippling the leadership structures of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). At least 17 terrorists were reported killed and 60 others injured in the operation, which focused solely on locations sheltering terrorists and did not target civilian sites.
The decision to launch ‘Operation Sindoor’ came in retaliation for the killing of innocent civilians in the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 people, mostly tourists, lost their lives. India targeted four sites in Pakistan and five in PoK, using special precision munitions to strike terror camps. The operation was carried out jointly by the three services, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi overseeing the entire operation.
Sources revealed that the locations struck in the operation were carefully selected as hubs for recruitment and training by Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad. This calibrated and cross-border military response is seen as a significant step in India’s efforts to combat terrorism originating from Pakistan.
