Chief adviser Mohammad Yunus has made bold statements regarding the current crisis in Bangladesh, alleging that it is the result of a conspiracy to re-establish Indian hegemony in the country. This claim was reported by Nagorik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna following a meeting with Yunus on Sunday, which was attended by other political parties as well. Manna stated that Yunus believes the entire nation needs to be united to counteract this alleged conspiracy.
According to Manna, Yunus began the discussion by highlighting the severity of the crisis, attributing it to the efforts of Indian hegemony to resist the changes occurring in Bangladesh. He reportedly stated that India does not want to accept the transformation taking place in Bangladesh and is actively working to destabilize the country. Manna quoted Yunus as saying, “Indian hegemony does not want to accept this change in us at all. If possible, they want to destroy us in one day and for that, they are doing everything they need to do.”
During the meeting, Yunus also addressed the pending national election, expressing concern that efforts are being made to destabilize the country following the ban on activities of the Awami League. Press secretary Shafiqul Alam reported that Yunus emphasized the importance of ensuring a fair election and stated that they are currently facing a “war-like situation.” He reassured political leaders that he would not allow anything to harm the country’s interests during his tenure as chief adviser.
Yunus’s comments have sparked discussions and debates across Bangladesh, with many questioning the validity of his claims and the potential implications for the country’s future. As tensions continue to rise in the region, it remains to be seen how the government will address these allegations and navigate the challenges ahead.
