Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has announced plans to boost tourism in the state by recruiting tourist guides and securing more funds from the Centre for the development of tourist spots. Speaking at the inauguration program of the construction and development of tourism infrastructure at Chotta Khola Park in South District, Minister Chowdhury outlined the government’s vision for enhancing tourism in Tripura.
“We have invested over Rs 4 crore for the renovation of Chotta Khola Park, which highlights the historical and cultural ties between India and Bangladesh. Our approach is two-fold, focusing on creating new tourist spots with the support of the Government of India and revitalizing existing tourist spots by further developing them,” said Minister Chowdhury.
Highlighting the need for improved infrastructure at Chotta Khola Park, the Minister emphasized the importance of providing amenities such as roads, a cafeteria, a children’s playground, parking facilities, and toilets to ensure a comfortable experience for tourists visiting the area.
Furthermore, Minister Chowdhury revealed plans to collaborate with the forest department to establish a tourist circuit, with a budget of Rs 30 crore allocated for the development of a tourism sector in Ludhua Tea Estate. This initiative aims to create a cohesive tourist circuit that includes attractions such as Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary, Chotta Khola Park, Dham Dhipa, and Pilak, providing tourists with a diverse range of experiences to enjoy.
With an increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Tripura, Minister Chowdhury encouraged youths to consider opening homestays in Chotta Khola Park, along with plans to introduce log huts and cottages in the area. Additionally, the Minister announced the recruitment of tourist guides through the tourism department to enhance tourists’ understanding of the history and significance of various tourist spots.
Moreover, Minister Chowdhury highlighted the completion of the beautification work at Tripura Sundari Temple and the upcoming inauguration of the park in Jirania Assembly Constituency, which will provide employment opportunities for locals. Plans are also underway to secure additional funds from the Government of India for the further development of tourism in Tripura.
