The recent attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Tripura’s Khowai district while they were listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme has sparked outrage and condemnation from Chief Minister Manik Saha. The incident, which occurred on July 27 at Asharambari, left at least seven BJP activists injured and resulted in the arrest of two individuals allegedly involved in the assault.
Chief Minister Saha, who was present at the same venue where the attack took place, described it as the “darkest chapter” not only in Tripura but in the entire country. He emphasized that ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is not a political event, but rather a platform where the Prime Minister connects with the people through his radio programme.
Saha praised PM Modi for his efforts to stay connected with the public and highlighted the unprecedented nature of the programme. He expressed his disappointment with the attack on BJP workers, stating that such incidents were reminiscent of the violence that occurred under previous regimes.
The Chief Minister also touched upon the history of insurgency in the northeast, including in Tripura, and commended PM Modi for bringing about lasting peace in the region. He pointed out that former members of banned outfits like ATTF and NLFT had recently surrendered, leading to Tripura becoming an insurgency-free state.
Saha reiterated his commitment to following the path laid out by PM Modi for the development of the state and condemned those who seek to sow confusion among the public. He emphasized the importance of listening to the Prime Minister and working towards the progress and prosperity of Tripura.
In light of the recent incident, Saha called for unity and peace in the state, urging all political parties and groups to put aside their differences and work towards a brighter future for Tripura.
