Agartala, November 28 —
Marking World Diabetes Day, the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura, in collaboration with the State Health Department, organised a 14-day statewide Diabetes Screening and Awareness Campaign from November 14 to November 28. The initiative aimed to strengthen early detection, awareness, and preventive healthcare across Tripura.
As part of the programme, a special diabetes screening camp was held today at Haradhan Sangh Park in Agartala, where more than a hundred people underwent free blood sugar check-ups and counselling sessions. Medical professionals and volunteers provided guidance on lifestyle changes, diet, and the importance of early diagnosis.
According to officials of the Hepatitis Foundation, over the past two weeks, more than 100 camps were held across the state, benefiting approximately 14,000 citizens. The large turnout reflects increasing public awareness and the need for accessible community-based health initiatives.
The camp was attended by Dr. Pradip Bhowmik, Founder of the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura, along with several senior officials and members of Haradhan Sangh Club, who supported the event’s organisation.
Health authorities stated that such initiatives play a crucial role in reducing diabetes-related complications by promoting early screening, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
