News Report:
Following the nationwide call issued by All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), farmer organisations in Tripura held a strong protest at Paradise Chowmuhani on Monday. As part of the demonstration, members of the AIKS Tripura State Committee burned copies of the Central Government’s proposed Seed Bill and Electricity Bill, terming them “anti-farmer” legislations.
Protesters alleged that the bills would severely impact farmers’ rights, restrict seed sovereignty, and increase financial burdens through electricity-related reforms. They demanded immediate withdrawal of the proposals and urged the government to engage in meaningful dialogue with farmer bodies.
The agitation aligns with similar protests taking place across the country under the united call of farmer unions.
