News Report:
Agartala, Tripura: The much-awaited food and cultural festival Petuk Samabesh, organised by the Netaji Play Forum Centre, is set to return this year, marking its fourth edition. The event will be held from December 21 to December 25 at the Netaji School premises in Agartala, featuring a wide variety of food stalls along with cultural programmes for visitors.
Officials shared details of the upcoming festival during a programme held at a city hotel on Saturday, organised alongside a food safety training session for street food vendors. The Petuk Samabesh has grown into one of Tripura’s popular food and cultural festivals, attracting food lovers from across the state.
Ahead of the festival, a one-day FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) programme was successfully conducted for more than 100 street food vendors of Agartala under the UMAS initiative, supported by ITC Sunrise as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The training aimed to promote safe, hygienic, and standard food-handling practices at the grassroots level, especially among vendors who will be setting up stalls during the festival.
The FoSTaC programme was attended by Dipak Majumder, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, as the chief guest. Also present were Sushanta Deb, Ratna Dutta, and other dignitaries.
Speakers highlighted that the objective of the training was to ensure food safety, public health, and quality standards during Petuk Samabesh 2025. Organisers stated that along with diverse food stalls, the festival will also showcase cultural performances, making it a complete family-friendly celebration of food, culture, and community spirit.
