Agartala, Tripura: The Movement for Kokborok formally unveiled its new calendar ahead of the upcoming Tring Festival during a programme held at the Agartala Press Club. The event was organised to highlight cultural initiatives linked with the Kokborok language and indigenous traditions of Tripura.
Addressing the media on the occasion, Ruhi Chandra Debbarma, President of the Movement for Kokborok, spoke in detail about the objectives behind the calendar launch and the significance of the Tring Festival in promoting indigenous identity and cultural awareness.
Ruhi Chandra Debbarma also elaborated on the Roman script issue, terming it an important matter related to language rights, education, and cultural preservation. He emphasized that any discussion or decision on the script of Kokborok must respect the sentiments of indigenous communities and be based on inclusive dialogue.
The programme saw participation from journalists, cultural activists, and supporters of the Kokborok movement. Speakers reiterated the need to strengthen indigenous language movements through democratic and peaceful means, especially during culturally significant occasions like the Tring Festival.
