Two youths from Bihar were arrested at Agartala Railway Station in a joint operation conducted by the Railway Police and the Intelligence Department for carrying illegal arms and banned cough syrup.The accused, identified as Kartik Yadav and Amod, arrived in Tripura on the Rani Kamlabati Express. Acting on a tip-off, intelligence officials carried out a raid at the station and detained them.During the search, police recovered one pistol, two rounds of ammunition, and around 100 bottles of banned cough syrup from their possession.DIG Rati Ranjan Debnath confirmed that the accused have been taken into police custody and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law. He added that further investigation is underway to find out whether the duo is linked to a larger smuggling network.The successful operation highlights the continued efforts of security agencies to curb illegal arms and drug trafficking in the state.
