Agartala: In a colorful display of community engagement and cultural spirit, the The South Tripura Bus Owners’ Association (Battala-Nagerjala Branch) celebrated its 35th Foundation Day today at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bus Terminal in Nagerjala. The landmark anniversary was marked by a large-scale Sit-and-Draw Competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from children and local youth.
The event was graced by several prominent personalities from the state’s sports and political circles, including Ratan Saha, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Tripura Olympic Association (TOA), and Shyamal Deb, President of the 8 Bardowali Mandal.
Fostering Creativity and Community Bond
The bus terminal, usually bustling with commuters and transport vehicles, was transformed into an artistic hub as young contestants showcased their creativity on canvas. The competition was organized to bridge the gap between the transport community and the local public, fostering a sense of social harmony.
Speaking at the event, TOA Chairman Ratan Saha praised the association for its decades of service to the state’s transport sector and its initiative to involve children in the celebrations. “It is heartening to see a transport association taking such a beautiful cultural initiative. Encouraging the next generation through art is a noble way to celebrate 35 years of establishment,” Saha said.
Leadership Highlights 35 Years of Service
The Association’s President, Kamal Deb, along with other senior members, led the ceremonial activities. In his address, he reflected on the association’s journey since its inception and its vital role in connecting Agartala with South Tripura.
Shyamal Deb, Mandal President, added that the transport workers and owners are the backbone of the state’s economy, and such social programs help in recognizing their contribution while giving back to the community.
