Agartala: In a significant move to foster community-led development and social awakening, the United Tiprasa Forum (UTF) organized a one-day Orientation Programme and Workshop at the Agartala Press Club today. The event was marked by the presence of Tipra Motha Party (TMP) supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, who served as the Chief Guest, alongside several high-profile leaders and state ministers.
The workshop, titled “Empowering the Indigenous Voice,” aimed to sensitize the youth and community leaders of the Tiprasa community about their constitutional rights, economic opportunities, and the need for a unified social front that transcends narrow political affiliations.
“Politics Alone is Not the Solution” – Pradyot Kishore
Addressing a packed hall of delegates, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma delivered a stirring speech, emphasizing that while politics is a tool for change, the survival and prosperity of the indigenous people depend on economic self-reliance and social unity.
“Our future will not improve by politics alone. Only when our economy develops and our youth are skilled can we look forward to better days,” Pradyot stated. He urged the United Tiprasa Forum to act as a bridge between the government and the grassroots, ensuring that various state and central welfare schemes reach the remote corners of the TTAADC (Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council).
Ministerial Support and Community Focus
The program also saw the participation of Minister Biswaketu Debbarma, who highlighted the state government’s efforts in tribal welfare. He discussed the implementation of the Tipra-HAM scheme, which has been instrumental in providing livelihood opportunities to tribal families through e-autos and agricultural support.
Key Highlights of the Workshop:
- Educational Sponsorships: The UTF announced new initiatives for coaching and educational aid for underprivileged students through their parent body, the Lam Phunuknai Trust.
- Financial Literacy: A session was dedicated to teaching rural entrepreneurs about modern banking, credit facilities, and the recently launched Tripura Gramin Bank Credit Card.
- Cultural Preservation: Discussions were held on documented the oral histories and traditional practices of the indigenous clans of Tripura.
