AGARTALA: In a major boost to the state’s athletic landscape, the Tripura Olympic Association (TOA) officially unveiled the logo for the upcoming Tripura State Games 2026 today. During a detailed press conference held at the Agartala Press Club, TOA officials announced that the mega sporting event is scheduled to take place from February 22 to February 24, 2026, across various venues in the capital.
The Symbol of Unity: Logo Launch
The official logo, which blends the cultural heritage of Tripura with modern athletic dynamism, was unveiled by the senior executive body of the TOA. Addressing the media, the officials explained that the logo represents the “rising aspirations” of the state’s youth and the collective dream of seeing more athletes from Tripura on the national and international stage.
“The Tripura State Games is not just a competition; it is a festival of talent. Our new logo symbolizes the strength, agility, and unity of our eight districts. We want every participant to feel a sense of pride when they wear this emblem on their jerseys,” a senior TOA official stated.
Tournament Schedule and Disciplines
The 3-day extravaganza will serve as a selection ground for identifying top-tier talent for regional and national meets. Key details shared during the conference include:
- Dates: February 22 (Opening Ceremony) to February 24 (Grand Finale).
- Disciplines: The games will feature over 20 sporting disciplines, including Football, Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics, Judo, Kabaddi, and Table Tennis.
- Venues: The primary events will be hosted at the Netaji Subhash Regional Coaching Centre (NSRCC), Badharghat Stadium, and the Umakanta Academy grounds.
Infrastructural Readiness
The TOA officials, including General Secretary Sujit Roy and President Padma Shri Dr. Dipa Karmakar (who has been a driving force behind the association’s recent activities), noted that the state government has provided extensive support to upgrade local facilities. The association is working in close coordination with the Youth Affairs and Sports Department to ensure international-standard arrangements for the athletes.
Selection and Participation
Hundreds of athletes from all eight districts—Dhalai, Khowai, West Tripura, Sepahijala, Gomati, South Tripura, Unakoti, and North Tripura—are expected to converge in Agartala. The TOA emphasized that the selection process at the district level is nearing completion, and the final list of participants will be released by next week.
A Call to the Youth
The press conference concluded with a call to the citizens of Agartala to turn up in large numbers to cheer for the local heroes. The TOA believes that the success of the State Games will further strengthen Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s vision of making Tripura a “Sports Hub” of the Northeast and a drug-free state through the power of sports.
