Underscoring the pivotal role of technical professionals in nation-building, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today attended a voluntary blood donation ceremony organized by the Association of Service Engineers of Tripura (ASSET). The event, held at the Sukanta Academy Auditorium in Agartala, saw a massive turnout of engineers and technical staff coming forward for the noble cause.
Engineers’ Contribution to ‘Ek Tripura, Sreshtha Tripura’
Inaugurating the camp at 10:30 AM, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha lauded the engineering community not just for their technical expertise but for their social responsibility. He stated that engineers are the “backbone of infrastructure,” and their contribution is vital for the realization of the state’s developmental goals.
Key highlights from the CM’s address included:
- Infrastructure as a Priority: The CM mentioned that a significant portion of the state budget is dedicated to infrastructure, as it forms the foundation of socio-economic growth.
- Service Beyond Profession: He praised ASSET for organizing the blood donation drive, noting that such initiatives help maintain the required stocks in state blood banks, especially during the summer months.
- Humanitarian Spirit: Dr. Saha reiterated that “blood has no caste or religion,” and the act of donating blood is the highest form of service to humanity.
Strengthening State Healthcare
As the Health Minister of the state, Dr. Saha also took the opportunity to highlight the recent advancements in Tripura’s medical sector, including the success of kidney transplants and the upcoming super-specialty facilities. He encouraged the engineers to continue their silent work in rural development, ensuring that basic amenities like roads and water reach every household.
The ceremony was also attended by senior officials of the state engineering departments and members of the ASSET leadership, who pledged their continued support to both the technical and social progress of Tripura.
