As the state prepares for the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, the timings for the Shiva Chaturdashi Tithi have been officially announced. Devotees across Tripura are gearing up to offer prayers and perform traditional rituals at various temples, including the iconic Chaturdash Devta Temple and the Unakoti shrines.
Tithi Schedule and Timings
According to the lunar calendar, the Shiva Chaturdashi Tithi is set to begin and end at the following times:
- Tithi Begins: Sunday afternoon at 04:49 PM.
- Tithi Ends: Monday evening at 05:34 PM.
Religious scholars suggest that since the Tithi prevails through the night of Sunday, the main rituals and ‘Prahara’ pujas of Maha Shivratri will be observed starting from Sunday evening. Devotees who observe a fast usually break it on Monday after the Tithi concludes or as per their specific family traditions.
Preparations in Full Swing
Massive arrangements are being made at Shiva temples throughout the state. Authorities are expecting a heavy rush of pilgrims, particularly at the Mahadev Bari in Udaipur and the Siddheswari Temple. Special security measures and barricades are being set up to ensure a smooth flow of devotees for the ‘Jal Dhal’ (pouring of holy water) ritual on the Shiva Linga.
The local administration has also issued guidelines for various temple committees to maintain discipline and safety during the peak hours of the festival.
