Stepping up its offensive against the ruling dispensation, the Tripura Pradesh Congress organized a high-voltage public meeting today in the Buddha Mandir area of Agartala. The gathering, which saw a significant turnout of party supporters, was addressed by senior Congress leader and MLA Shri Sudip Roy Barman and Pradesh Congress President Shri Ashish Kumar Saha.
The meeting served as a platform for the opposition to highlight issues ranging from unemployment and inflation to the alleged deterioration of law and order in the state.
Sudip Roy Barman Slams “Misrule”
Addressing the crowd, Sudip Roy Barman launched a scathing attack on the state government. He alleged that the democratic rights of the citizens are being stifled and that the administration has failed to address the basic needs of the common man.
”The people of Tripura are living under a reign of fear and economic distress. From the hills to the plains, there is a growing realization that this government is only for a select few. Congress is the only force that can restore the constitutional values in our state,” Roy Barman declared.
Call for Unity by Ashish Saha
Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha emphasized the need for organizational strength at the grassroots level. He noted that today’s massive gathering at Buddha Mandir is a testament to the “winds of change” blowing through the capital.
Saha remarked:
”Our fight is for the ‘Antim Vyakti’ (last person). We are witnessing a ‘Loot Raj’ where public funds are being diverted while the youth are struggling for jobs. Today’s meeting is a warning to the government—we will not remain silent.”
Key Highlights of the Gathering
- Location: The Buddha Mandir area, a strategic point in Agartala, was filled with Congress flags and banners.
- Themes: The speakers focused on the rising cost of essential commodities and the “politicization” of state administration.
- Youth Engagement: A large number of Youth Congress and NSUI members were present, signaling a push to mobilize the younger electorate.
Atmosphere and Security
