AGARTALA: Intensifying their political agitation against the economic distress hitting the common man, the Amra Bangali party organized a high-voltage street demonstration today. The protest rally was staged directly in front of the party’s state headquarters in Agartala, drawing a large number of party cadres and local supporters who raised slogans against the rising cost of living.
The mass demonstration focused on a multi-point charter of demands, primarily targeting the unchecked price rise of petroleum products and everyday kitchen essentials, the growing youth unemployment crisis, and the expanding network of narcotics smuggling in the state.
A Triple-Front Agitation: Economy, Jobs, and Public Safety
During the street demonstration, party leaders highlighted that the purchasing power of the middle and lower-income families has plummeted due to recent inflationary pressures.
The Core Demands Raised by Amra Bangali:
- Immediate Price Controls: The party demanded immediate state intervention and tax rationalization to lower the skyrocketing prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas (LPG), and essential food commodities.
- Mitigating Youth Unemployment: Urging the administration to roll out a structured employment generation roadmap and fill up thousands of vacant government posts to prevent regional brain drain.
- Crackdown on Drug Cartels: Demanding zero-tolerance administrative and legal actions against cross-border drug kingpins and local peddlers who are pushing the state’s youth into chronic addiction.
“The Common Man is Being Crushed from All Sides”: Party Leadership
Addressing the gathering from the temporary podium outside the state office, senior leaders of the Amra Bangali party slammed both central and state policies for failing to safeguard baseline citizen welfare.
”The daily life of a common citizen has become an absolute struggle. On one hand, prices of fuel and food are breaking records every week, and on the other, our educated youth are sitting idle without decent job opportunities. To make matters worse, the drug menace is destroying families in every neighborhood, while law enforcement remains ineffective against the main suppliers.
We are here to give a clear warning to the government: stabilize the markets, create sustainable jobs for the unemployed, and lock up the narcotics dealers. If the administration fails to take immediate, visible steps to address this triple crisis, Amra Bangali will escalate this street agitation into a massive, state-wide civil movement,” a senior Amra Bangali state executive announced to the crowd.
The protest concluded with a formal delegation of the party preparing a memorandum detailing their demands, which will be routed to the Governor and the Chief Minister’s Office for immediate legislative review.
