AGARTALA: Following his high-profile appointment by the central party command in New Delhi, the newly designated President of the BJP Tripura Pradesh unit, Abhishek Debroy, arrived in the capital city today. The sitting legislator from the Matarbari constituency was accorded a massive, high-decibel reception by thousands of jubilant party workers, youth activists, and senior leaders who jammed the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport terminal.
As soon as the new state chief stepped out of the arrival gates, he was engulfed by an enthusiastic sea of party supporters who showered him with flower petals, presented massive floral garlands, and chanted vibrant slogans hailing the organizational transition.
The ceremonial reception at the airport was spearheaded by senior cabinet members, including Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, alongside multiple party MLAs, state committee secretaries, and frontal organization heads.
A Strategic Transition to Boost Grassroots Grid
The national leadership of the party finalized Abhishek Debroy’s appointment to succeed Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, a strategic move aimed at infusing young dynamic energy into the core organizational apparatus.
Key Structural Expectations under the New Leadership:
- Decentralized Coordination: Leveraging Debroy’s extensive experience as the former Gomati district chief to bridge the operational gap between capital-based executives and village-level booth committees.
- Youth Mobilization: Utilizing the new president’s background in youth student movements to recruit and train first-time voters ahead of upcoming rural and civic transitions.
- Government-Party Synergy: Working closely with the Chief Minister’s office and Cabinet ministers to accelerate the field execution of flagship developmental goals across all sub-divisions.
“We Will Work as a Unified Team to Touch Every Household”: President Abhishek Debroy
Addressing the media and assembled cadres right outside the VIP lounge of the MBB Airport, the newly appointed state president expressed deep gratitude to the central leadership and vowed to safeguard the traditional core values of the party.
”I want to express my deepest regards to our national leadership and our state team for placing their trust in an ordinary party worker like me. This immense welcome at the airport is not for an individual—it is a proof of the discipline and energy of our workers. Our predecessor Rajib Bhattacharjee Ji has built a remarkably strong foundation over the past few years, and my job is to expand that legacy.
Our immediate objective is transparent: we will work hand-in-hand as a unified team with our honorable Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and our cabinet ministers to take the development blueprint directly to the last mile. We are not a party that operates from AC rooms; our real strength lies on the ground. Every single booth worker is a pillar of this state unit, and together, we will ensure that the welfare schemes touch every household in Tripura, leaving no room for divisive elements,” the newly appointed BJP State President Abhishek Debroy announced to reporters.
Ministers Exude Confidence in New Leadership Core
Welcoming the new chief on the tarmac, senior Cabinet Ministers Sushanta Chowdhury and Pranajit Singha Roy stated that the state administration will extend absolute structural cooperation to the newly structured organizational wing.
”Abhishek Debroy represents the dedication of our grassroots leadership. He understands the pulse of both the urban sectors and the remote hills. Under his young and dynamic leadership, the coordination between the state government’s administrative policies and the party’s grassroots outreach will reach its peak efficiency,” Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stated to the media during the reception.
Following the airport felicitation, a massive motorcade rally escorted the new president to the state party headquarters in the Krishnanagar area of Agartala, where he formally assumed charge of the state unit office amidst traditional rituals and sweets distribution.
