AGARTALA | June 9, 2026: Continuing its annual tradition of cultural and spiritual integration, a representative delegation from Tripura is geared up to participate in the upcoming 30th Sindhu Darshan Yatra and the historic 1st “Sindhu Mahakumbh” in Ladakh. The 17-day-long spiritual expedition is scheduled to take place from June 18 to June 30, 2026.
To share the detailed itinerary, core objectives, and logistics of this highly anticipated national pilgrimage, the Tripura state chapter of ‘Himalaya Parivar’ hosted a formal press conference on Tuesday morning. The media briefing commenced at 11:00 AM on the second floor of the Agartala Press Club.
Promoting National Integration via the Holy Indus
The Sindhu Darshan Yatra is celebrated annually at the banks of the sacred Indus (Sindhu) River in Leh-Ladakh to honor India’s civilizational roots and promote the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (One India, Great India). However, the 2026 edition marks a significant milestone as it simultaneously hosts the country’s first-ever “Sindhu Mahakumbh”—a grand confluence expected to bring together saints, scholars, and devotees from over 25 states and Union Territories.
”Like every year, Tripura will have a robust presence at the icy heights of Ladakh to celebrate our nation’s diversity and unity. This year’s journey is extra special due to the inaugural Sindhu Mahakumbh, which connects the northeast to India’s northernmost frontier through shared cultural consciousness,” a senior representative of Himalaya Parivar Tripura shared during the briefing.
Special Travel Subsidies Announced for Local Journalists
During the press conference, the leadership of Himalaya Parivar Tripura announced a dedicated outreach initiative to ensure that the beauty and strategic importance of the border region are effectively covered by the state’s media.
The organization revealed that while journalists from other regions frequently travel to the event, participation from Tripura has historically been low. To fix this gap, the Tripura branch has launched a specialized assistance framework.
The pilgrimage will officially flag off from Kurukshetra in Haryana on June 18. For selected media professionals from Tripura traveling to the event, the organization has pledged to bear all major localized costs—including food, lodging, and road transport from Kurukshetra to Leh-Ladakh across the 17-day tour. This facility has also been extended to journalists traveling with their spouses, ensuring maximum community participation.
Himalaya Parivar concluded the meet by opening up its helpdesk to the general public, inviting interested pilgrims from Tripura to connect with the state committee for registration, route maps, and medical guidelines required for high-altitude travel.
