The Airports Authority of India (AAI) recently conducted an inspection of the defunct airport at Kailashahar in Unakoti District, Tripura. This inspection was part of the planned revival of the airport, as confirmed by Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
Minister Chowdhury, who also oversees the Tourism portfolio, stated that the Central government is set to take action soon to revive the airport. He highlighted the efforts of the state government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in improving Tripura’s communication infrastructure.

He mentioned that he had been advocating for the revival of the Kailashahar airport and had been in communication with both former and current Union Civil Aviation Ministers to push for this demand.
Furthermore, Minister Chowdhury revealed that Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has also been actively involved in this matter and has raised it with the Centre. He noted that discussions on this topic have taken place in the State Assembly, often initiated by opposition parties.
