In a commendable initiative toward community health, the All Tripura Chemists and Druggists Association (ATCDA) organized a mega Free Eye Examination Camp in Agartala today. The event was part of the association’s ongoing social responsibility program aimed at providing essential healthcare access to the underprivileged sections of society.
High Turnout and Expert Consultation
The camp saw an overwhelming response from the local residents. According to the organizers, more than 100 individuals underwent comprehensive eye screenings throughout the day.
A team of experienced ophthalmologists and clinical experts conducted the examinations, which included:
- Refraction tests for vision clarity.
- Cataract screenings for senior citizens.
- General eye health consultations to prevent infection and long-term damage.
Commitment to Social Service
Speaking at the venue, a senior representative of the All Tripura Chemists and Druggists Association stated that their role extends beyond the sale of medicines.
”As members of the healthcare fraternity, we have a duty to ensure that people are aware of their health needs. Many people ignore eye issues due to a lack of resources; this camp is a small step to ensure that ‘vision for all’ becomes a reality in Tripura,” the official remarked.
Distribution of Support
In addition to the check-ups, the association also facilitated:
- Free Medicines: Basic eye drops and ointments were provided to those in need.
- Follow-up Guidance: Patients diagnosed with cataracts or requiring surgery were guided to the appropriate government facilities for further treatment under state-sponsored health schemes.
Community Appreciation
The local residents lauded the efforts of the ATCDA, noting that such initiatives in the heart of the city help many daily wage earners and elderly citizens who find it difficult to visit hospitals for routine check-ups.
