News Report:
Agartala, Tripura: The All Tripura Optometry Association (ATOA) has urged the Tripura state government to take immediate steps for the reconstitution of the Tripura State Allied and Healthcare Council (TSAHC) and to expedite the recruitment of optometrists across the state.
In a statement, ATOA highlighted that the TSAHC has not been effectively reconstituted for a long period, resulting in serious administrative and professional challenges for allied and healthcare professionals in Tripura. The association pointed out that optometrists, in particular, are facing difficulties related to professional recognition, regulation, and career progression due to the non-functional status of the council.
The association stated that the absence of a fully operational TSAHC is hampering proper implementation of policies, registration processes, and regulatory oversight for allied healthcare workers. This situation, they warned, could adversely affect the overall healthcare delivery system, especially in areas related to eye care services.
ATOA appealed to the state government to address the issue on priority by reconstituting the council at the earliest and initiating prompt recruitment of qualified optometrists to strengthen public health infrastructure. The association expressed hope that timely government intervention would ensure better healthcare services and safeguard the interests of allied health professionals in Tripura.
