In an effort to bring essential medical services to the doorsteps of the citizens, a Free Mega Health Camp was organized today at the historic Radhamadhab Temple premises by Ward No. 12 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). The initiative aimed to provide quality healthcare consultations and medicines to local residents, especially those from economically marginalized backgrounds.
The camp was formally inaugurated by the Mayor of Agartala, Shri Dipak Majumdar, in the presence of Ward No. 12 Councilor Smt. Santana Saha and other local social activists.
Comprehensive Medical Services
The health camp featured a team of specialist doctors from various departments, including General Medicine, Pediatrics, and Ophthalmology. Hundreds of residents from the Ward and surrounding areas queued up to avail themselves of the services.
Key highlights of the camp included:
- Free Consultations & Tests: Patients received expert medical advice along with free diagnostic tests for sugar levels, blood pressure, and hemoglobin.
- Distribution of Medicines: Essential medicines were distributed free of cost based on the doctors’ prescriptions.
- Eye Check-ups: A dedicated section for eye health was set up, where several elderly residents were screened for cataracts and other vision-related issues.
“Health is Our Priority” – Mayor Dipak Majumdar
Speaking at the inauguration, Mayor Dipak Majumdar emphasized the Agartala Municipal Corporation’s commitment to public welfare.
”Our goal is to ensure that no citizen remains deprived of basic healthcare due to financial constraints. These camps are vital for the early detection of diseases. Under the guidance of our state government, the AMC is working tirelessly to make Agartala not just a ‘Smart City,’ but a ‘Healthy City,'” the Mayor stated.
Councilor Santana Saha expressed her gratitude to the medical team and the temple committee for their cooperation. She noted that such health camps would be organized periodically to monitor the well-being of the ward’s residents.
Community Response
Local residents expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting that the proximity of the camp at Radhamadhab Temple made it convenient for senior citizens to get their regular check-ups without traveling to distant hospitals. The event concluded successfully, with the organizers promising more such outreach programs in the coming months.
