Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has issued a stern warning against the spread of AI-generated images aimed at misleading the public in relation to the recent death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg. Sarma has stated that such actions will not be tolerated and could result in severe legal consequences.
Zubeen Garg, a beloved singer in the state of Assam, passed away on September 19 while in Singapore. Following his death, Assam police made several arrests in connection with the case. Among those arrested were Zubeen Garg’s manager, Siddharth Sharma, and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, along with two others. These individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of foul play surrounding Garg’s death.
The Chief Minister’s warning was prompted by the circulation of an image on social media showing Mahanta and Sharma appearing to be in good spirits, despite their recent arrests. Sarma emphasized the importance of verifying information before sharing it online and cautioned against the dissemination of false or misleading content.
The investigation into Zubeen Garg’s death is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to uncover the truth behind the circumstances surrounding his passing. The Chief Minister has urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and to allow law enforcement officials to conduct their investigation without interference. He has also assured the people of Assam that those responsible for any wrongdoing will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
