The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), recently carried out a successful operation against narcotics smuggling in Tripura, seizing a significant amount of cannabis worth Rs 30 lakh.
The operation, which took place in the general area of Taranagar, Agartala, on 12 June, resulted in the confiscation of approximately 195 kg of marijuana. The seized contraband is believed to have a value of around Rs 30 lakhs in the local market.
This bold move by the Assam Rifles highlights their strong commitment to combatting the illegal drug trade in the region and protecting young people from the dangers of substance abuse. The Assam Rifles emphasized that this operation is part of their ongoing efforts to disrupt smuggling activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border and maintain national security.
“We are dedicated to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens. The Assam Rifles will continue to work tirelessly to dismantle smuggling networks in the Northeast and prevent illegal activities from taking place,” a spokesperson for the Assam Rifles stated.
