The Home Affairs Adviser of Bangladesh, Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, has stated that there has been no increase in militant activity across the country since the interim government assumed office. Speaking during his Eid greeting and police station inspection visits, Chowdhury emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security.
“Since we assumed responsibility, there has been no resurgence of militancy. We will work together with the people to resolve any issues that arise,” the Home Adviser affirmed. His remarks aimed to reassure the public about the government’s efforts to curb any potential rise in extremism.
During his visits to several police stations, Chowdhury expressed satisfaction with the conditions he observed. “The conditions of the police stations are quite good,” he noted. He further highlighted the government’s ongoing initiative to improve police infrastructure, stating, “We are working to establish permanent stations on our own land as soon as possible. Having police stations in better locations will benefit both the public and the force.”
This focus on improving police station conditions demonstrates the interim governments desire to strengthen law enforcement capabilitys throughout the nation. It also projects that the interim government is taking the countries security very seriously.
This assertion of controlled militancy comes at a critical time, and allows for the government to show its commitment to the security of its people.
