Four Bangladeshi nationals, including two minors, were apprehended at Agartala Railway Station in Tripura in a joint operation carried out by the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRPS), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the Intelligence department. The arrests took place on the night of June 7 and 8.
Officer-in-Charge of Agartala GRPS, Tapas Das, stated that the arrest was made based on confidential inputs. The four detainees had reportedly entered India illegally from Bangladesh and were allegedly planning to travel to Delhi by train. Preliminary interrogation revealed their intention to cross further into Indian territory.
The individuals who were arrested have been identified as Md Billal (47), Salma Begam (38), Md Naeem (08), and a six-year-old whose name was not disclosed. All of them are from Bagerhat, Bangladesh.
Authorities have announced that the accused will be produced before the Court to face legal proceedings. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of illegal immigration and the efforts being made by law enforcement agencies to address it in the region.
