In a successful joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Tripura Police seized 168 kg of cannabis in South Tripura, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat narcotic trafficking along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The operation, conducted in the presence of Deputy Collector and Magistrate Belonia, took place in the Indian village of Uttar Awasthipara, Dakshin Krishnapur, Radhanagar.
The arrest of three Bangladeshi nationals in West Tripura, who were planning to exfiltrate to Bangladesh, showcases the continued vigilance against illegal border movements. The BSF troops apprehended the individuals in Megliband, Katlamura, under PS Sidhai, Sub-division Mohanpur, district West Tripura based on specific intelligence inputs.
Earlier on October 29, Tripura Police detained three Bangladeshi nationals from the West Chandrapur area under Dharmanagar subdivision in North District for allegedly entering India illegally. According to police sources, the trio had crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border with the help of brokers six months ago. They then traveled to Bengaluru, where they obtained fake Aadhaar cards for Rs 5,000 each before moving to Kolkata and other parts of North 24 Parganas district.
The successful operations in Tripura underscore the importance of inter-agency cooperation in tackling cross-border criminal activities. Local administrative oversight ensures transparency in these efforts to combat illegal activities along the border. The BSF and Tripura Police remain committed to maintaining security and preventing the flow of narcotics and illegal immigrants across the border.
