A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan sustained bullet injuries in Tripura’s Gomati district after an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound at Maharani.
A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel sustained bullet injuries in an incident at Maharani, located in Tripura’s Gomati district, on April 21st. The injuries resulted from an alleged attempt to take his own life.
Tripura Police sources confirmed the incident to India Today NE. The jawan, identified as Mani Kundan S, 24, a resident of Tamil Nadu, was stationed at the Amrit Para Border Outpost.
“He reportedly shot himself in the left side of his chest with his service rifle. He was initially taken to Natunbazar Hospital and later referred to Gomati District Hospital. Following preliminary treatment, doctors there referred him to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala,” a police official stated.
A duty doctor at Gomati District Hospital provided further details: “The BSF jawan was brought to us after he shot himself in the chest with his service rifle. After an initial check-up, we referred him to GB Pant Hospital for further treatment. His condition is critical.”
