News Report:
Agartala witnessed a strong protest on Monday in the Office Lane area as multiple CITU-affiliated organisations staged a demonstration demanding the withdrawal of the new Labour Codes and increased budget allocations for various welfare schemes.
Members of the Mid-Day Meal Workers’ Union, ASHA Workers’ Union, and Anganwadi Workers’ Union participated in the programme, raising concerns over inadequate financial support and the growing hardships faced by frontline and scheme-based workers.
Speaking on behalf of the organisations, union representative Panchali Bhattacharjee outlined the key demands and explained how the current policies have affected thousands of workers across the state. She emphasised the urgent need for fair wages, job security, and sufficient government funding to ensure smooth functioning of essential public welfare projects.
The demonstration highlighted broader nationwide concerns surrounding workers’ rights, with participants calling for immediate government intervention.
