Agartala, Tripura: In a significant move towards urban renewal and environmental conservation, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha officially inaugurated the rejuvenation and beautification project of a major pond at Rishi Colony, Pratapgarh, located within Ward No. 43 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).
The project, executed under the Central Government’s AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme, aims to transform neglected water bodies into scenic public spaces while preserving the local ecosystem.
Key Highlights of the Event:
- Inaugurated By: Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura.
- Special Guests: Mayor of AMC, Dipak Majumder, local Corporators, and senior officials from the Urban Development Department.
- Project Details: The beautification work includes the construction of reinforced embankments (ghats), walking tracks for residents, decorative lighting, and a plantation drive around the water body.
- CM’s Vision: During the ceremony, the Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is committed to making Agartala a “Smart City” by reviving its traditional water bodies. He noted that such projects not only enhance the city’s beauty but also help in maintaining the groundwater level.
Mayor Dipak Majumder highlighted that under the leadership of the current government, the AMC has successfully identified several such ponds across various wards for phase-wise renovation to provide better civic amenities to the urban population.
