Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha graced the state-level Police Week Parade today at the Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti (MDS) Stadium in AD Nagar, Agartala. The event, a highlight of the annual Police Week celebrations, showcased the discipline, strength, and modernization of the Tripura Police force.
The Chief Minister was received by the Director General of Police (DGP) and other senior officials before inspecting the guard of honour and taking the salute of a magnificent march-past by various contingents of the state police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR).
Recognition of Excellence and Valour
During the ceremony, the Chief Minister handed over several prestigious awards to personnel who displayed exceptional bravery and dedication in the line of duty.
- President’s Police Medals: Awarded to officers for distinguished and meritorious service.
- Best Police Station Award: Recognized for excellence in crime prevention and community policing.
- Unit Trophies: Awarded to the best-performing battalions for their role in maintaining state security.
Focus on “Nasha Mukt Tripura”
In his keynote address, Dr. Manik Saha lauded the police for their role in transforming Tripura into a peaceful state. He specifically highlighted the force’s success in the ongoing battle against the drug menace.
”Our police force is the shield of the common man. From successfully curbing insurgency to lead the front in our ‘Drug-Free Tripura’ mission, their contribution is incomparable. The government will continue to provide the latest technology and infrastructure to make our police force one of the best in the country,” the Chief Minister stated.
Commitment to Modern Policing
The CM also emphasized the importance of Cyber Security and Women’s Safety, noting that the state is investing heavily in forensic laboratories and special training for personnel to handle 21st-century challenges. He urged the force to maintain a “people-friendly” image so that citizens feel empowered to approach the police without hesitation.
The parade was witnessed by a large number of dignitaries, retired police officials, and students, leaving the audience inspired by the rhythmic precision of the bands and the displays of tactical skills.
