News Report:
Several recently terminated Community Health Guides (CHGs) gathered in Agartala under the initiative of AITUC to voice their distress and uncertainty after losing their jobs. Many of the workers were seen breaking down in tears as they shared their experiences and fears about their future livelihoods.
Following the meeting, the affected CHGs held a press conference where they revealed that they had attempted to meet Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to discuss their situation but were unable to secure an appointment. According to representatives, Tripura currently has 730 Community Health Guides, all of whom played key frontline roles in public health outreach.
The terminated workers have demanded a one-time compensation of ₹10 lakh each, citing years of service, financial hardship, and the sudden nature of the job loss. AITUC leaders expressed strong support for the workers, criticising the government for failing to provide alternative job arrangements or adequate transitional support.
The CHGs have urged the state government to reconsider the decision and offer immediate relief to impacted families.
