In a disturbing incident of political violence, senior CPIM leaders Ratan Das and Subhashis Ganguly, along with 8 to 9 party workers, were reportedly attacked by miscreants in the Joypur area of Tripura.
According to local sources, the CPIM leaders, who are residents of the Ramnagar area, were present in Joypur when a group of unidentified attackers allegedly launched an assault on them. The victims sustained injuries during the attack and were promptly rescued by fellow party workers.
The injured leaders and workers were immediately taken to GB Hospital in Agartala for medical treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that some of the injured are in a stable condition, while a few others are under close observation.
CPIM has strongly condemned the incident, calling it a “cowardly attempt to silence democratic voices.” The party has demanded a thorough investigation and immediate arrest of those involved in the attack.
This incident adds to the growing concern over political safety and law and order in the region as Tripura gears up for heightened political activity in the lead-up to upcoming elections.
