In a significant stride toward promoting digital literacy among the youth, the 124 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), based in Salbagan, successfully concluded a three-month free computer training program today. A certificate distribution ceremony was held on Monday afternoon at Pragati School, Agartala, where 25 students were honored for completing the course.
The initiative was part of the CRPF’s Civic Action Program (CAP), aimed at bridging the digital divide for students from various socio-economic backgrounds.
Dignitaries Grace the Occasion
The event was marked by the presence of high-ranking officials and local representatives:
- Shri Ravish Kumar, Commandant of 124 BN CRPF, who has been instrumental in spearheading community outreach programs in the state.
- Shri Namit Pathak, Superintendent of Police (SP), West Tripura.
- Shri Abhishek Datta, Corporator of Ward No. 18, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Investing in the Future
Addressing the students, Commandant Ravish Kumar emphasized that in today’s world, computer proficiency is not just an advantage but a necessity.
”Our goal is to ensure that the students of Tripura are well-equipped with the technical skills required to thrive in the 21st century. This three-month training is just the beginning of their journey into the digital world,” he remarked.
SP Namit Pathak lauded the CRPF for its “police-public” heart-winning initiatives, noting that such educational support helps in building a positive relationship between the security forces and the local community.
Program Highlights
- Beneficiaries: 25 selected students from Pragati School received intensive training in basic computer operations, office software, and internet safety.
- Objective: To provide vocational skills that complement traditional classroom education.
- Community Role: Corporator Abhishek Datta thanked the 124 BN CRPF for choosing his ward’s school for this program, stating that such collaborations are vital for the holistic development of the capital’s youth.

The atmosphere at Pragati School was one of immense pride as the students, accompanied by their teachers and parents, received their certificates from the dignitaries. Many students expressed their gratitude, noting that the free course provided them with access to technology they otherwise could not afford.
