In a bid to safeguard the social environment and support students during the crucial examination season, the DYFI Ramnagar, Krishnanagar, and Abhaynagar Regional Committees jointly submitted a deputation to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Ramnagar Police Outpost on Saturday.
The youth delegation raised serious concerns regarding the unchecked spread of drug trafficking in local neighborhoods and the increasing issue of late-night noise pollution, which is severely affecting students’ preparations.
Key Demands Placed Before the Police:
- Combatting Drug Abuse: The delegation alleged that the “empire of addiction” is expanding into the narrow lanes and bylanes of the city. They demanded immediate and strict police action to dismantle local drug networks and save the youth from the clutches of narcotics.
- Curbing Noise Pollution: With the board and final examinations ongoing, the DYFI members highlighted that loud music and noise continue deep into the night in various residential areas. They urged the police to enforce the ban on microphones and loud noise after 10:00 PM to ensure a peaceful study environment.
- Increased Patrolling: The committees requested intensified police patrolling in the Ramnagar, Krishnanagar, and Abhaynagar areas, especially during the night, to deter anti-social activities.
Youth Leadership Speaks Out
During the deputation, the leaders emphasized that while the government talks about a “Drug-Free Tripura,” the ground reality remains alarming.
”The future of our students is at stake. On one hand, drugs are destroying the youth, and on the other, noise pollution is hampering their studies. The police must act beyond mere assurances,” a DYFI representative stated.
The OC of the Ramnagar Outpost reportedly assured the delegation that the police would look into the matters seriously and take necessary steps to maintain law and order, specifically focusing on the complaints regarding loud noise during the exam period.
