Continuing the state government’s mission of inclusive growth, Honorable Chief Minister Prof (Dr.) Manik Saha graced a state-level beneficiary interaction and benefit distribution program under the Mukhyamantri Janajati Bikash Yojana today. The event, held at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala at 01:00 PM, saw a massive gathering of indigenous community members from various corners of the state.
Direct Interaction with the Grassroots
In a departure from formal speeches, the Chief Minister spent a significant portion of the program interacting directly with the beneficiaries. He inquired about the reach of various welfare schemes and sought feedback on the challenges faced by the tribal communities in remote areas.
”Our government does not believe in working from files alone; we believe in working from the field. Today’s interaction ensures that the benefits meant for our Janajati brothers and sisters are reaching their doorsteps without any middleman,” Dr. Saha remarked.
Distribution of Benefits
During the ceremony, the Chief Minister distributed a wide array of benefits aimed at socio-economic upliftment, including:
- Livelihood Support: Financial assistance and equipment for self-employment ventures.
- Educational Kits: Special grants and study materials for Janajati students to promote higher education.
- Health & Housing: Sanction letters for improved housing and healthcare cards under state-sponsored missions.
The Mukhyamantri Janajati Bikash Yojana is a flagship initiative designed to bridge the developmental gap in tribal-dominated blocks, focusing on “Janajati-led development” rather than just “Janajati welfare.”
The Vision: “Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura”
The Chief Minister reiterated that the development of the Janajati population is central to the vision of Viksit Tripura. He highlighted that the state has allocated nearly 40% of its total budget for tribal welfare, a historic high, aimed at improving infrastructure like roads, electricity, and clean water in the ADC (Autonomous District Council) areas.
Key Attendees
The program was also attended by:
- Shri Bikash Debbarma, Hon’ble Minister for Tribal Welfare.
- Senior officials from the Tribal Welfare Department.
- Leaders of various tribal socio-cultural organizations.
The event concluded with a cultural performance by local indigenous groups, showcasing the rich heritage that the state government has vowed to protect and promote alongside economic progress.
