In a significant move toward ensuring the safety and dignity of women in the workplace, a one-day State-Level Training Program on the “SHe-Box Portal” (Sexual Harassment electronic Box) was organized today at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala. The workshop aimed to sensitize government officials and department heads about the digital mechanism for reporting and redressing sexual harassment complaints.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Tinku Roy, Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare & Social Education, in the presence of Smt. Jharna Debbarma, Chairperson of the Tripura Commission for Women.
Digital Shield for Working Women
The SHe-Box portal, an initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, serves as a single-window platform for every woman—irrespective of her work status in the organized or unorganized sector—to register complaints related to sexual harassment.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Tinku Roy emphasized the government’s “Zero Tolerance” policy toward workplace harassment.
”The SHe-Box portal is a transformative step in digital governance. It ensures that complaints reach the Internal Committee (IC) or Local Committee (LC) directly, maintaining strict confidentiality. Our goal is to make every workplace in Tripura a safe space for women to thrive,” the Minister stated.
Strengthening Institutional Accountability
Smt. Jharna Debbarma, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, highlighted the importance of time-bound investigations. She urged all departments to ensure that their Internal Committees are not only functional but also registered on the portal to streamline the monitoring process.
