The All India Progressive Forum (AIPF) achieved a significant milestone today by organizing its first-ever state-level conference in Tripura. The event, held at the IMA House in Agartala, brought together intellectuals, social activists, and cultural personalities to discuss the current socio-political landscape and the future of progressive movements in the state.
The conference served as a platform for the forum to formally establish its organizational presence in Tripura, aiming to advocate for democratic values, secularism, and social justice.
Key Speakers and Dignitaries
The event was graced by several prominent figures from the national and local intellectual circuits:
- Dr. Jugal Kishore Rayalu: National General Secretary of AIPF, who provided the keynote address focusing on the need for a progressive front in the current national context.

Focus on Social Progress and Democracy
During the deliberations, the speakers expressed concern over the shrinking space for dissent and the need for a scientific temper in society. The forum emphasized its commitment to:
- Safeguarding Constitutional Values: Protecting the fundamental rights of all citizens.
- Promoting Local Culture: Empowering indigenous and local artists to voice social concerns.
- Youth Engagement: Encouraging the younger generation to participate in progressive ideologies to counter regressive social trends.
Organizational Roadmap
The conference concluded with the formation of a state committee for AIPF Tripura. The newly elected members vowed to take the forum’s message to every district and subdivision of the state.
”This first state conference marks the beginning of a new chapter for progressive voices in Tripura. We are here to ensure that the spirit of inquiry and the fight for equality remain alive in our public discourse,” said a spokesperson for the forum.
The gathering at IMA House resonated with a call for unity among all progressive and democratic forces to work toward the holistic development of the state.
