The state-level Kyokushin Karate Championship, held on November 2 at Vivekananda Byayamagar, concluded with remarkable enthusiasm as 60 participants competed for a place in the national squad. Following an intense selection process, five talented karatekas from Tripura have been chosen to represent the state at the 38th National Kyokushin Karate Championship, scheduled to be held in Kolkata on November 29 and 30, 2025.
At a press conference held Monday at Vivekananda Byayamagar, Ajay Kumar Chowdhury, President of the Tripura Kyokushin Karate Association, along with Rakesh Saha, Secretary of the organisation and Coach-cum-Manager of the team, shared details about the selected players and the upcoming national event.
The selected players include:
- Prithviraj Shil – Senior Group
- Akash Chowdhury – Senior Group
- Sagar Chakraborty – Senior Group
- Rohit Saha – Junior Group
- Ricky Saha – Sub-Junior Group
The team is set to leave for Kolkata on November 28. Coach-cum-Manager Rakesh Saha expressed strong confidence in the athletes, stating that they are fully prepared and capable of delivering outstanding performances on the national stage.
He added that the association is hopeful the team will bring glory to Tripura through their dedication, discipline, and skill in Kyokushin karate.
