Founder of the Tipra Motha Party, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, has strongly rebuked a senior political leader for making what he called a “foolish and misleading statement” regarding the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill. The senior political leader had claimed that the bill would only be passed if a particular party came to power in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Pradyot personally investigated the matter by contacting senior officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), who were reportedly shocked by the claim. He clarified that the amendment bill is not limited to Tripura but also includes other regions such as Bodoland, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Khasi Hills, Garo Hills, and others. The officials confirmed that the claim made by the senior political leader was false and advised not to take it seriously.
Furthermore, Pradyot emphasized that the bill would be implemented simultaneously in all 10 district councils across the Northeast on the same day. He criticized those who underestimate the indigenous community, stating that they are not uneducated and should not be taken for granted. Pradyot urged those making such statements to read the law and understand the Constitution.
Describing the statement as “irresponsible and misleading,” Pradyot expressed confidence that the Government of India would soon proceed with the implementation of the 125th Amendment Bill without any further delay. He called for unity and respect for the indigenous communities in the region, highlighting the need for accurate information and understanding of legislative processes.
