The launch of the second unit of Gomati Dairy in Tripura has been hailed as a significant milestone for the state’s dairy industry and rural economy. With a processing capacity of around 40,000 liters, this new facility is set to revolutionize dairy production in Northeast India.
The inauguration ceremony, graced by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh, highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering farmers and promoting sustainable livelihoods in rural areas.
Located in the Bamutiya Assembly Constituency, the second unit of Gomati Dairy is expected to make Tripura self-sufficient in milk and dairy products. This strategic initiative aims to not only boost dairy production but also create employment opportunities and drive economic growth in the state.
Chief Minister Manik Saha stressed the importance of supporting animal husbandry and dairy farming as key sectors for rural development. He expressed optimism that the new dairy unit would contribute significantly to the state’s economic prosperity and help in achieving the goal of doubling farmers’ income.
The Gomati Dairy project is in line with the national and state governments’ vision of ensuring food security and enhancing agricultural productivity. By empowering local farmers and promoting dairy production, Tripura is poised to become a leading hub for dairy processing in the region.
