Three Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman, were apprehended at Agartala Railway Station in a joint operation, suspected of being part of a human trafficking or illegal immigration network.
Joint Operation Leads to Arrests at Agartala Station
A joint operation conducted by Tripura’s intelligence department, the Government Railway Police (GRP), the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the Border Security Force (BSF) on April 19 resulted in the arrest of three Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala Railway Station.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the three individuals entered India illegally and intended to travel onward to southern states by train via Kolkata. Authorities suspect their movement is linked to a larger human trafficking or illegal immigration network.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Kamrun Nessa (23), resident of Dhaka
- Md. Ismail Hossain (22), resident of Chittagong
- Md. Noor Hossain (25), resident of Chittagong
The trio is currently under interrogation at the Agartala GRP Police Station. Officials anticipate further arrests as the investigation progresses, with police sources indicating that extended questioning is expected to yield crucial information.
A formal case has been registered at the Agartala GRP Police Station, and the accused will be presented before the Hon’ble Court. Authorities are treating this incident as a significant breach of national security and are actively working to uncover the full scope of the illegal network.
This arrest follows a recent crackdown on illegal immigration in Delhi, where police detained eight Bangladeshi nationals for residing unlawfully in various parts of the city.
