Agartala, March 30:
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day weather alert for Tripura, warning of hot and humid conditions across the state. Beginning today, residents are likely to experience rising temperatures and discomfort due to increased atmospheric moisture levels.
According to the IMD, the weather pattern is being influenced by partly cloudy skies, intense solar radiation (solar insolation), and the inflow of hot westerly winds into the region. These combined factors are expected to push daytime temperatures to 36°C or higher in one or two locations across Tripura.
The Met department further stated that maximum temperatures are likely to remain 3–4°C above normal in several districts during this period. In addition, humidity levels will rise in various parts of the state due to prevailing atmospheric moisture, increasing the overall heat index and adding to the discomfort.
Residents, especially the elderly, children, and those with existing health conditions, are advised to avoid prolonged outdoor activities during peak daylight hours and to stay hydrated. The IMD also urged people to take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Meteorologists have suggested that no significant rainfall activity is expected during the forecast period, which means little relief from the ongoing heatwave-like conditions.
