The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Agartala, has issued a warning of widespread rainfall across Tripura during the ongoing Durga Puja and Dussehra celebrations, impacting various districts in the state.
In a special weather bulletin, the IMD highlighted that South Tripura district is under an orange alert, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall (7–20 cm), thunderstorms, and lightning expected at one or two places today. Other districts such as West, Sepahijala, Gomati, and Dhalai are under a yellow alert, with heavy rain (7–11 cm) and thunderstorms forecast at isolated locations.
Looking ahead to October 3, the IMD forecasts light to moderate rain or thundershowers across most parts of Tripura. Heavy rainfall (7–11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places in West, Sepahijala, Gomati, and South Tripura districts, accompanied by thunderstorms at scattered locations.
Officials have advised citizens to remain alert and exercise caution during outdoor festivities, as continuous showers may dampen the festive mood. It is recommended to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during the celebrations.
