In response to a growing humanitarian crisis, the Government of India has launched ‘Operation Brahma’, a large-scale relief operation aimed at delivering urgent humanitarian aid to affected regions, as the official death toll climbs to 1,002. This mission underscores India’s swift commitment to providing critical support and life-saving assistance in the wake of a major disaster.
‘Operation Brahma’ has been activated to ensure the timely delivery of essential supplies, including food, clean drinking water, medical aid, tents, and hygiene kits to the most severely impacted areas. The Indian Armed Forces, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other government agencies are working in close coordination to reach vulnerable populations and remote regions.
Specially-equipped transport aircraft, helicopters, and relief convoys have been mobilized under the operation to facilitate the rapid distribution of aid materials and the evacuation of survivors. Field hospitals and mobile medical units have also been deployed to provide emergency healthcare services.
Top officials have confirmed that the situation is being monitored round-the-clock and that India stands prepared to scale up operations if required.
